General Questions

  • Can I participate with a stroller?

    Yes of course! We recommend starting in the back of the walk/run for safety.

  • Can I run with a pet?

    Yes! We are a pet friendly walk/run. Each walk site has different permission levels set out by local municipal permit standards. For specific information on your walk site, please visit your local park’s page to make sure.

  • Are there medals? Are there special awards for the top finishers?

    All live participants will receive PFYT Race Kit. We do not provide medals or awards for top finishers.

  • Are there volunteer positions available for the event?

    Yes! Please contact us at contact@colorectalcancercanada.com or call us at (514) 875-7745 we would truly be grateful for your support!

  • What if it rains on event day?

    PFYT will take place rain or shine! Check your local weather station on the event day and come prepared. It will only be cancelled if there are severe weather conditions, such as lightning. Keep an eye on our Instagram/Facebook PFYT pages to see if there is a risk of cancellation due to weather conditions and be sure to register for the event to receive the most up-to-date communications.

  • I don’t see an in-person event in my city, how can I participate in PFYT?

    Check out our location page to sign up for your local & closest location PFYT Walk/Run. If any of our PFYT locations are too far, please do join our Virtual walk/run! If you would like to host a PFYT walk/run in your area please contact us at contact@colorectalcancercanada.com

Registration Questions

  • How can I sign up?

    Click on the Register button on the right side of the Home screen and follow the steps.

  • I can't run this year; can I transfer my registration to someone else?

    Please contact us at contact@colorectalcancercanada.com

  • I signed up for Virtual, can I switch to In-person?

    Please contact us at contact@colorectalcancercanada.com

  • Can I register a child to walk/run?

    Yes you can! Please do so on our “Register as a Family” button on the Registration page and follow the steps.

  • Will I get a tax receipt when I register?

    Tax receipts are not issued for registration fees as CRA rules don't allow for receipts.


    If a Donation is made, you will receive a tax receipt by email. Please check your junk mail and/or make sure to put the correct email address before contacting us if you do not receive one.

  • Can I sign up on event day?

    Yes you may do so at our registration booth but it is encouraged to do so ahead of time to be accounted for as our Race Kits may run out.

    On the PFYT event day, you will receive a race kit at the registration booth. One race kit will be provided per person registered.

Virtual Walk/Run Questions

  • What is a Virtual walk/run? How does it work?

    It is the perfect way to keep you motivated while maintaining a healthy lifestyle throughout the summer. Simply download the free Strava app and share your walk/runs to track your efforts and celebrate your accomplishments while receiving Kudos from our Pushers! Go to our Locations page and click on the Virtual square for more info!

  • When can I complete my Virtual walk/run?

    Anytime, Anywhere!

  • Can I still create a team?

    Yes you can! Just choose Virtual for your registration and follow the steps.

  • What are the benefits of a Virtual event registration?

    Teams have the added advantage of supporting one another from anywhere while promoting involvement and fundraising.You can sign up under the name of your team and stay in touch with your teammates. By planning pre- and post-event video chats, exchanging images, and establishing some friendly competition or team goals, we urge you to keep in touch before, during, and after your walk or run.

  • How do I track and submit my walk/run results? How do I use the Strava app?


  • Will I receive a bib to participate?

    Virtual participation: No bib will be provided, but we encourage you to tag us on social media using the PFYT Filter that is on our Instagram page.

    In-person participation: Yes. A race bib will be assigned to you at Race Kit Pickup. Please feel free to tag us on social media using the PFYT filter on our Instagram page.

  • Do I have to walk/run the full distance at one time?

    You are free to take pauses or split up your walk/run across more than one day, as long as you properly log your Virtual walk/run using the Strava app and finish the distance you signed up for before the submission date.

  • I want to share my progress and photos; how can I do this?

    You can share your progress using the Strava app and on Instagram – tagging us by using the PFYT filter

  • Can I register for the Virtual walk/run if I live in another country?

    Yes! You can! Anytime, Anywhere! Please do tag us on social media.

  • Are there any Virtual event safety tips?

    - Steer clear of busy roads.

    - During a quieter time of day, walk or run in your neighbourhood near your home.

    - Avoid running while it's dark..

    - Always be visible and wear appropriate clothing.

    - If your walk/run is longer than expected, bring water and/or food. 

    - In case of an emergency, let someone know the path you're running and bring a cell phone along for the virtual race.

    - Make a detailed plan of your walk/run in advance and do your best to follow it.

Fundraising

  • Is there a minimum fundraising amount I have to raise?

    No minimum amount is required! We appreciate all your support. Please do check out our Fundaraising tips section for success:

  • What are the benefits of online fundraising?

    - You may ask people all over the world to help you with just a single click; it's simple, quick, and affordable.

    - You may share your story, add images and videos, and personalise your own fundraising page.

    - For online donations of $10 or more, tax receipts will be automatically generated.

    - You can monitor who has helped you along with the steps you've taken to reach your objective.

    - You can connect your social media accounts to your own fundraising page or log in.

    - You can maximise the impact of every dollar in an easy, secure, and cost-effective manner.

    - CCC can handle your online donations more quickly and affordably, which means that a larger portion of the funds raised will go towards patient programmes and research.

  • What is required to set up my personal fundraising page?

  • How can I find out who sponsored me online?


  • Can I donate if I’m not participating in the Walk?

    Yes you can! Any form of support is truly appreciated and will help support upcoming and current programs which involve but are not limited to, patient support, Colorectal Cancer Community Conference, Monthly CCC newsletter, monthly research updates and Colorectal Cancer Canada’s Immunotherapy Program.

  • When will I receive my tax receipt?

    When you donate online, an automatic receipt is sent right away. Please check your junk mail if you do not see it before contacting us.

  • I have lost my original tax receipt and require another. What do I do?

  • I made an online donation and cannot open my tax receipt.
